Anno 1404 has a very poor memory management and even under Windows the game is plagued by incessant return to Desktop crashes due to memory errors (malloc failure, memory full, ect.). Ubi forums are full of user complaining about this: a major part of the crashes aren't due to Wine itself. The solution to this seems to be to reduce the graphics quality (it's a pity. The game looks grat in high detail mode). With a GeForce 640GT (1Gb VRAM) i could play without any crashes many hours by reducing the quality to 'medium'. With an HD3000 IGP (480Mb VRAM) i never managed to play more than 1/2h without crashes in any quality preset.
